Millennial Musings: Nostalgia, Netflix, and the Never-Ending Quest for the ’90s

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we? As a proud card-carrying member of the millennial club, I can’t help but notice how we millennials have this almost unbreakable bond with nostalgia. It’s like our generation’s favorite hangout spot, comforting and oh-so-familiar.

Now, why is it that we’re so obsessed with reliving the glory days of our younger selves? Well, for starters, adulting is hard. Like, really hard. With bills to pay, careers to juggle, and relationships to manage, sometimes all we want to do is escape back to a time when the biggest worry was whether our Giga Pet would survive the day; and let’s not forget the golden age of pop culture that was the ’90s and early 2000s. From the epic music of TLC, Nelly, D4L, Faith Evans, Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, Eminem, Tupac, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott, Back Street Boys, to the iconic TV shows like “Living Single”, “Martin”, “Full House”, “Charmed” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” “Family Matters” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” it was a time of pure, unadulterated awesomeness. Who wouldn’t want to relive that?

But it’s not just about escaping the present; it’s also about finding comfort in the past. Nostalgia gives us a sense of belonging, a reminder of where we came from and how far we’ve come. It’s like a warm hug from our younger selves, telling us that everything is going to be okay.

And let’s face it, nostalgia is just plain fun. Whether we’re binge-watching “Boy Meets World” on Disney+ or catching a vibe to our favorite ’90s hits on Apple Music, it’s a way for us to connect with our inner child and indulge in a little bit of carefree fun.

So, here’s to us, the nostalgia-loving, Netflix-binging, never-aging millennials. May we never lose our sense of wonder and may our love for the ’90s live on forever. Cheers!
