Let’s talk Solange Knowles

Solange is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Born June 24, 1986, in Houston, Texas, to Mathew and Tina Knowles. From the very beginning she expressed an interest in music and began to expand on her desires at the age of five when she made her debut at a Six Flags theme park in Houston, Texas.

In 2002 Solange released her first studio album titled Solo Star followed by her second studio album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams in 2008. My favorite song off this album is hands down T.O.N.Y. – I would sing this song to the tip top of my lungs! Off key might I add. Solange released her third studio album eight years later titled A Seat at the Table. This album beautifully blended collaborations from Lil Wayne, Q-Tip, The-Dream, BJ the Chicago Kid, Kelly Rowland, Tweet, Sampha, Kelela and David Longstreth. The Seat at the Table landed Solange her 1st Grammy Nomination and win for her lead single “Cranes in the Sky” while the album itself was ranked at 312 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

In March of 2019 Solange released her fourth studio album, When I Get Home. I have listened to this album over 25 times. The way the songs flowed one into the next was amazingly composed. Things I Imagined, Stay Flow and Binz are still in rotation right to this day. The visual art, the production, the artistry, the lyrics, I can go on and on about this album. Solange is ICONIC!

Recently, Solange has launched a glassware line in collaboration with Jason McDonald, SAINT HERON’S SMALL MATTER ART OBJECTS. While I haven’t read any updates on when we will have new music from her, I can’t wait to make my purchase from her glassware line, pour a glass of my favorite Moss Lounge wine and vibe out to my Solange playlist.
